22nd week of pregnancy And pregnancy symptoms

22nd week of pregnancy

What you need to know about the 22nd week

During this time the size of the womb increases rapidly. As a result, stretch marks appear on the skin of the abdomen. In addition to the abdomen, such spots may also appear around the breasts and thighs. In the beginning these spots are reddish or purple. After childbirth, the scars slowly begin to fade.

During this time or in the following weeks, your breasts may occasionally ooze a small amount of breast milk, which is normal. This is how your body prepares for future breastfeeding

Many people suffer from constipation during pregnancy. Some people may have problems like piles, hemorrhoids or gauges at this time So eat plenty of water and fibrous foods to avoid  constipation .

Other symptoms that may be present at this time are:

  • Get tired
  • Sleep problems
  • Swelling or bleeding gums,
  • Abdominal pain,
  • In some cases, mild bleeding from the nose,
  • Flatulence and constipation,
  • Indigestion and heartburn,
  • Chest pain when pressed,
  • Leg pain,
  • Feeling uncomfortable or shortness of breath in mild or slightly hot weather,
  • Dizziness,
  • Watery or swollen limbs,
  • Inflammation or infection of the urinary tract,
  • Vaginal infections
  • Spots on the skin of the face or other parts of the body
  • In many cases the hair on the head becomes thicker, blacker than before,
  • Increased blood circulation makes the skin look brighter or more beautiful than before (this is what many call ‘pregnancy glow’).

Things to keep in mind:

  • From this week the baby begins to sleep at a certain time and stay awake for a certain amount of time. Your baby’s sleeping and waking routine may not match your personal sleep routine. He can disturb your sleep by moving too much during your sleep at night. So try to rest when the baby is a little quiet during the day.
  • Many people get the whooping cough vaccine during pregnancy. If you have not yet received the vaccine, talk to your doctor about it.
  • Working mothers can apply for maternity leave three months before childbirth. Try to find out in advance what kind of rules you have in your office or workplace.

How the fetus is growing

By 22 weeks your baby is about 26.7 centimeters or about 11 inches tall, and weighs about 430 grams.

The baby’s lungs are now more organized. During this time he tried to breathe slowly. From this week onwards the baby begins to swallow amniotic fluid little by little. This fluid starts to accumulate in her abdomen and comes out of her body as the first stool or bowel movement to be excreted after birth. This first stool containing amniotic fluid is called ‘meconium’.

From this week, ‘test buds’ start forming on the baby’s tongue. ‘Test buds’ play an important role in the taste of food. The mother’s eating habits may have an effect on the baby’s test buds. So try to eat as much healthy and balanced food as possible at this time.
