In 1969, when Malcolm Muggeridge’s documentary ‘Something Beautiful for God ‘ aired on the BBC, the activities of her charitable religious campaigning association were widely publicized in the Western media and Teresa’s fame spread to the world. He received the Nobel Peace Prize in 1979 and the Bharat Ratna, India’s highest civilian award, in 1980.

At the time of Teresa’s death, The Missionaries of Charity had 610 centers in 123 countries around the world, including medical centers for dying AIDS, leprosy, and tuberculosis patients, canteens, child and family counseling centers, orphanages, and schools. Mother House is located on Bose Road, Kolkata. Four storeyed building, MISSIONARIES OF CHARITY carved in marble on the walls. As you enter the alley on the left side, you will see the statue of Mother Teresa. The Mother House is written on the big signboard. Old buildings and windows of those days. After entering barefoot, you will find the tomb of Mother Teresa. The messenger of peace is resting. Everyone is sitting and praying in silence, some are shedding tears. The enticing smell of incense sticks and this atmosphere will be loved by anyone. It is written on one side, These flowers were placed on Mother tomb. You are most welcome to take them as a blessing. You will see people from different countries have recorded their feelings in different languages in a cloth. There is a large library room next to it. Photography is prohibited here. This room is beautifully decorated with items used by Mother Teresa. In front you will see a small room on the second floor. A bed in the middle, a table and a chair next to it. Entry from outside is prohibited.
Pope Francis canonized Mother Teresa, a human rights activist who set an example in humanitarian service. To have darshan of mother house you should visit between 8 am to 12 pm. And between 3 pm and 6 pm. Mother House is closed on Thursdays.
